The studio has a strong design focus and is currently developing a series of public projects, including museums, schools, cultural centers and libraries. The studio is also engaged in the design of private residences, housing, pavilions, exhibitions and urban planning. This variety of project type and scale fosters the exploration of a wide range of ideas, typologies and building approaches.\n\nRather than developing a specific style or a predefined formal langage, the studio's approach is based on the principle that different conditions produce different expressions. Projects are conceived by postponing the vision of a finished product for as long as possible, placing instead trust in the creative process as the generator of architecture that is always distinctive.\n\nDesigns are developed by navigating the tension between the internal and external forces of the project. On the one hand, the studio approaches architecture as an autonomous system and works with typological and historical models and references. On the other hand, there is the conviction that project specificities are always generative. The negotiation between these two perspectives produces architectural objects that are rigorous, but always contextual.\n\nAssociates\n\nHubert Pelletier, Co-Founding Partner, OAQ\nHubert studied industrial design at the University of Montreal and ENSCI in Paris. He worked in various industrial design offices before continuing his education in architecture at the University of Montreal where he received his masters degree in 2006. After obtaining his diploma, he worked as a collaborator and project manager at Daoust Lestage until 2008 and at nARCHITECTS in New York from 2008 to 2010 before founding Pelletier de Fontenay in 2010.
