The studio has a strong design focus and is currently developing a series of public projects, including museums, schools, cultural centers and libraries. The studio is also engaged in the design of private residences, housing, pavilions, exhibitions and urban planning. This variety of project type and scale fosters the exploration of a wide range of ideas, typologies and building approaches. Rather than developing a specific style or a predefined formal langage, the studio's approach is based on the principle that different conditions produce different expressions. Projects are conceived by postponing the vision of a finished product for as long as possible, placing instead trust in the creative process as the generator of architecture that is always distinctive. Designs are developed by navigating the tension between the internal and external forces of the project. On the one hand, the studio approaches architecture as an autonomous system and works with typological and historical models and references. On the other hand, there is the conviction that project specificities are always generative. The negotiation between these two perspectives produces architectural objects that are rigorous, but always contextual. Associates Hubert Pelletier, Co-Founding Partner, OAQ Hubert studied industrial design at the University of Montreal and ENSCI in Paris. He worked in various industrial design offices before continuing his education in architecture at the University of Montreal where he received his masters degree in 2006. After obtaining his diploma, he worked as a collaborator and project manager at Daoust Lestage until 2008 and at nARCHITECTS in New York from 2008 to 2010 before founding Pelletier de Fontenay in 2010. La firme travaille actuellement à développer une série de projets publics notamment des musées, écoles, centres culturels et bibliothèques. Le studio s’intéresse également à d’autres échelles de projets tels que des résidences privées, logements, pavillons, expositions et aménagements urbains. Cette mixité de nature et de programmes permet d’explorer un large éventail d’idées, de typologies et d'approches constructives. Loin de travailler à consolider un style ou à créer un univers formel prédéfini, la démarche du bureau s’appuie sur la conviction que différentes conditions produisent différentes expressions. Les projets sont conçus en repoussant le plus longtemps possible la vision d’un produit fini, plaçant plutôt la confiance dans le processus créatif comme générateur d’une architecture toujours distinctive. La proposition architecturale se développe dans la tension entre les forces internes et externes au projet. D’une part le studio est intéressé par une certaine autonomie de l’architecture et travaille à partir de références typologiques et de modèles historiques. D’autre part, il y a la reconnaissance que les spécificités du projet sont toujours génératives. La négociation entre ces deux perspectives produit des objets architecturaux rigoureux mais toujours contextuels. Associés Hubert Pelletier, associé fondateur, OAQHubert étudie le design industriel à l’Université de Montréal et à l’ENSCI à Paris. Il travaille au sein de différents bureaux de design industriel avant de poursuivre son éducation en architecture à l’Université de Montréal où il reçoit sa maîtrise en 2006. Suite à l’obtention de son diplôme, il travaille comme collaborateur et chargé de projet chez Daoust Lestage jusqu’en 2008 et chez nARCHI
